In Nova Scotia . The Leo MacKay Bursary in the amount of $1,000.00 per
year through the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour.
We supply $1,000.00 each year to fund two $500.00 AIL Canada/New Brunswick
Federation of Labour Solidarity Bursaries each year.
We also make a donation of $3,000.00 each year to the New Brunswick
Federation of Labour to assit with their postage cost of communicating
with their affiliates.
We also make regular donations both financial and otherwise to the New
Democatic party of Nova Scotia.
AIL Canada was the lead sponsor for two consecutive years for the NDP
Leader's Levee.
Various Labour Day Parades and picnics around the maritimes also recieve
funding assistance from AIL Canada to help make the day a fun time for
working families to enjoy their day of celibration.
Several donations of door prizes for the groups we work with are made
on an annual basis.
AIL Canada is always open to the idea and request of all groups who
are involved in the informing of their members about the existance of
our company and its efforts to service working families.
Maine
and New Hampshire
March, 2006, $250 - NH AFL-CIO Legislative Reception held in Concord,
NH, for labor union lobbying against "Right To Work" legislation
March, 2006, $500 donation to the Southern Maine Central Labor Council
for the establishment of an accredited labor studies course at the University
of Southern Maine.
"Annual" donations:
$250 to NH AFL-CIO Scholarship Fund
$250 in Door Prizes for NH AFL-CIO State Convention
$250 in Door Prizes for ME AFL-CIO State Convention
Other donations:
$150 in Door Prizes every 6 months for Paperworkers (USW) Union (formerly
known as UPIU & PACE)
June, 2004, $500 donation to IAMAW Local S/6, Strike Fund
The other way AIL helps considerably across both ME & NH is with
our Food Bank, especially the last quarter of the year for Thanksgiving
& Christmas / Holidays.
